Currently, there is a small debate going on about allowing Multicam to be used at AS operations. At least in my area of the world.

I am just curious about what others think about the use of MultiCam at AS events.

Q1. Should MC be permitted to be used at AS events? Why or why not?

Q2. If permitted, should MC be considered Brown or Green? Why?

Feel free to add any comments...

I personally don't think highly of it and neither does my dad (who was in the military). It contains white and in most picture white sticks out. In the woods and other areas of the world such as jungles, white does not blend in. I have asked my dad countless times about it and he always says the purpose of camouflage is to blend in not stick out, and if you were to see something white you would shoot at it or at least notice it for a split second. In my mind muticam is a bad choice are best chosen for blending in if thats your purpose. If you want to be noticed where muticam.

In effectiveness evaluations, of all the camo patterns we tested, MC proved to be the most effective. Tested patterns included; MC, woodland, MARPAT, Tiger Stripe, ACU, Flecktarn, and DPM. These patterns where tested over a period of over a year in almost every terrain available in Arkansas.

In case it matters, our team leader is a US Army Special Forces Captain(retired) and was directly involved in the testing of the various camo patterns for the team. I also recommend visiting Military Morons. I did an interview with the owner a couple of years ago and he is probably one of the most authoritative people on the planet regarding MultiCam...

Anyway, I included a few sample pics from my MC test.

Yes, visually, you can see white standing out on the MultiCam, you may also want to note how well it blends in with the background because of the blending of the colors in MC. You my also have noted that grass and leaves tend top reflect white. However, I did not see any black, such as what one would see used with woodland or many other camo patterns.

Regardless of any white that may appear on the pattern ( actually Khaki, a natural earth color), it still has proven to be one of the most effective camo patterns available. In fact, the only few patterns that are better are civilian patterns such as Mossy Oak and Real Tree.

who cares if it works or not, if i want to wear multicam, i should be allowed to wear multicam. i realize that its not the most popular camouflage patter (in fact ive had people come up to me at games and tell me thers puke on my shirt), but its more opinion based than tactically based when its not allowed.

Actually, I do care if it works or not... And MC works... That is why I use it.

I do agree that if one wishes to wear MC, then by all means they should be allowed to. The problem is that many event hosts forget that the players at their events are customers.

Personally, I think if you want to wear a pink too too, then go for it. Tactically, it might even be the best thing to wear as everyone will be laughing to hard to shoot at you.

Back to the original question - I think I'm seeing a trend towards counting Multicam as Brown here in AZ but my sample is still small, e.g. at the Marauders recent event it seemed they lumped the new'ish MC with the now 'classic' US Browns.

I've seen it used as Tan (or brown) more often than I've seen it used as Green. But it definitely varies depending on who is hosting the game. As long as it is clear up front which team MC belongs on, I see no reason that it should not be allowed.
